Falling Leaves

~

We fall like leaves touched by winter

chasing summery dreams,

sliding on fleeting illusions of love

and life among other things.

We glide with grace

towards the comforting ground

accepting a passing of seasons.

And in the midst of our fall

sometimes we question the reasons

for whatever is we found,

tempting our will to embrace

and hold on to eternal summer

as we helplessly fall

like leaves touched by winter-

  1. A favorite pastime as a young girl, watching the leaves fall. I gave many of them whole lives in my mind, told stories about them, in my mind. Back when I had an imagination πŸ™‚
    Beautiful poem

    • Hector says:

Imagination is something I suspect you will always have my dear girl. I think it goes with being a dreamer. πŸ’•

      • Eh, I’ve never considered myself a dreamer. My father taught me living in reality, I think my mother unintentionally taught me the same thing.
        But
I think I’m getting better at finding that imagination once again

Like I said in the poem you just read, don’t ground yourself too hard. I believe we are meant to dream, our minds are wired that way. At least I know mine is and dreaming asleep or awake allows me to become free from this reality i so poorly embrace. I always hope that when death comes it will be eternal dreams.

  2. Geetha B says:

Lovely Hector. Like the winter leaves we all are, certainly
