It Tended Well

~

It tended well,

spring came home to nest in dreams

where love once grew near flowing streams

of words, and more than once

among these words the joy of rhyme

made all believe it could be mine,

to keep and be amidst this place

so filled with pain and love entwined.

It tended well,

when winds of fall slowly replaced

the love and dreams I once embraced

with sadness worn across my heart

for things that passed,

and words seemed hard

to mend and sort amidst this place

so filled with hope and love entwined.

It tended well,

then winter froze the flow of wants

desires lost in broken arms

where love once laid in tender hold,

now words just fade

when softly left amidst this place

so filled with loss and love entwined-

“Like a speeding train

I am passing by…

I don’t know

where I’m heading

with whom or why

all I know is that

I will never, ever

pass from here again

all I know is I’m skidding forward

on this track of life.”
